The Adams Street Infill Initiative is an affordable housing development funded by NYS Homes and Community Renewal’s Affordable Home Ownership Program (AHOP), with additional support from NBT Bank and the City of Buffalo. Located in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood, the initiative focuses on reinvesting in Adams Street by constructing high-quality, newly built single-family homes on long-vacant lots — filling in the missing pieces of a vibrant residential block.
In partnership with local builder Buccilli Renovations, BENLIC is working to restore the block’s traditional urban fabric by reintroducing homeownership opportunities that align with the historic character and density of the neighborhood. These efforts aim to strengthen the community alongside current residents and create new opportunities for affordable homeownership.
This initiative is designed to:
- Provide new, affordable homes for income-qualified buyers,
- Complete the streetscape by infilling vacant lots with thoughtfully designed homes, and
- Support long-term neighborhood stability through reinvestment and homeownership.
The Adams Street Infill Initiative is about building on what’s already here — bringing lasting value to a historic block through respectful, community-centered development.
To ensure affordability and promote equitable access to homeownership, buyers must meet income eligibility guidelines.
You may qualify if your total household income is at or below 100% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Erie County, as defined annually by HUD. See the chart below for reference:
